Buchanan Stories – TEST
Vision
Buchanan Stories is a participatory documentary storytelling, urban design and community arts initiative focused on the Buchanan Mall, a public park transecting seven affordable-housing complexes in San Francisco. Residents are working together across longstanding divisions to transform the Mall into a vibrant place for culture, connection and economic opportunity.
A continually evolving suite of documentary films is shown in all the places the community regularly gathers, fostering an ongoing dialogue about culture, community, economic opportunity and pride of place. Participatory urban design and economic development, informed by the community’s stories, builds on the community’s capacity for vibrant connection.
