Rosa Parks Senior Center Mural

The Rosa Parks Senior Center mural begins with the idea that many cultures have found refuge in the Western Addition. This city of migrants, specifically people of color, have found homes in the area so the theme of migration will be represented by a series of butterflies colored to match the patterns of these diverse homelands from Africa, Eritrea, Ethiopia, China, Russia and Vietnam. In addition this neighborhood has been home to activists and change makers, starting with Rosa Parks and following through to icons like Mayor London Breed, mothers like Mary Rogers and ordinary citizens wanting to make a change.
